The sinus specialists at The Minimally Invasive Sinus Center at Ear, Nose & Throat Consultants, LLC, Stanley Schack, MD, Samuel Medaris, MD, and Jessica Moran-Hansen, MD are qualified otolaryngology surgeons that utilize the Relieva Balloon SinuplastyTM divice by Acclarent/Johnson & Johnson as the balloon dilation system used in their treatment of sinusitis.
Sinusitis is an inflammation of the sinus lining caused by bacterial, viral and/or microbial infections; as well as structural issues like blockages of the sinus opening (ostium). If the sinus opening (ostium) is closed, normal mucus drainage may not occur – this condition may lead to infection and inflammation of the sinuses.
Balloon sinuplasty sinus procedures involve the use of FDA-cleared, catheter-based technologies specifically designed to navigate the tortuous sinus anatomy. These systems are used to open the blocked sinus ostium, and in many cases, without tissue or bone removal. Instead, using balloon technology, the blocked sinus ostium is gently dilated restoring normal sinus drainage and function.
